Hypertension ….. learn a little about .

Blood pressure is the force that heart uses to pump blood through the vessels.

The pressure is determined by the volume of blood leaving the heart and the resistance it encounters to circulate in the body.

Blood pressure is considered normal when the systolic (maximum) does not exceed 130 and the diastolic (minimum) is less than 85 mmHg (milimeters of mercury).

The HYPERTENSION is, therefore, blood pressure above normal values, that is, above 140 (maximum) and 90 (minimum) mmHg in adults over 18 years,

To chacacterize the disease, it is necessary that these values are frequent, since elevations may be due to occasional concerns, food, tobacco, alcohol, exercises, coffe, drugs and more ….. If not treated appropriately, this disease can lead to complications which could affect other organs ans systems of our body.

It is estimated that 10-15% of the population in Brazil is affected by hipertension.

Watch out, always check in the nutrition label the amount of sodium in the portions indicated.

ANVISA (National Health Surveillance Agency) recommends daily sodium intake of no more than 2400 mg.

So, try to limit salt (sodium) in your diet. Prefer fresh fruits, vegetables, whole grains (oats, wheat, rye, etc..) Try using spices such as garlic, onion, rosemary, coriander, aromatic herbs, lemon, etc….

People with hypertension should be accompained by a doctor and dietitians.
